Cabo 20: God Knew Exactly What We Needed

Sometimes you make plans based on what you think you want, but God knows exactly what you need.

When Mike and I first began planning our anniversary celebration, we wanted to travel somewhere. As we kept planning, we chose Cabo because we wanted our parents to join us. We thought it would be a more manageable destination for everyone.

Unfortunately, health concerns came up, and we decided it would be best not to have our parents travel. By that time, we were already committed to Cabo, so we adjusted our plans and moved forward.

What initially felt like a change in our vision turned out to be God redirecting us toward something even more meaningful.

Creating the Cabo Crew

We knew we did not want to celebrate locally. We wanted to invite friends and family to travel with us and experience something special.

I created the invitation and sent it to the people we wanted to celebrate with us.

Several people immediately said yes. Others couldn’t attend, and some never responded. Later, additional friends expressed interest in joining us, but we’d already finalized our dinner reservations, yacht experience, and other activities based on our confirmed headcount.

We were committed to that number.

And as it turned out, we had exactly the right number.

Those yeses became the Cabo 20.

More importantly, they became the right crew.

Every person brought something special to the weekend. They trusted our vision, embraced the themes, wore the looks, participated in the activities, and came ready to celebrate.

They brought love, laughter, personality, and great energy into every experience.

The Cabo 20 did not simply attend the trip.

They helped make the trip what it was.

Dr. G Gem: Sometimes God does not send everyone you expected. He sends the people who are meant to share that season with you.

More Than an Anniversary Celebration

The trip began as a celebration of ten years of love between Mike and me, but it became about so much more.

It became a celebration of friendship, family, connection, and community.

There is something powerful about bringing together people from different parts of your life. Some of the Cabo 20 had known us for years. Others were newer to our journey. Everyone had their own relationship with us, but they all shared a willingness to travel, celebrate, and create memories together.

The laughter was real.

The energy was beautiful.

The love was present.

We invited them to celebrate our love, but their presence reminded us of how deeply loved we are.

Looking around at everyone, I realized that God knew exactly what Mike and I needed.

We needed time away from our responsibilities.

We needed laughter without an agenda.

We needed joy that felt easy.

We needed opportunities to reconnect.

We needed people who were willing to be present and enjoy the moment.

Dr. G Gem: The right people do more than attend your celebration. Their presence adds something meaningful.

Creating an Experience With Intention

I pride myself on bringing people together and creating experiences that people will talk about long after the weekend is over.

For me, it is never just about planning a trip or hosting an event. I want people to feel something.

I want them to feel welcomed.

I want them to feel included.

I want them to feel appreciated.

I want them to know that their presence matters.

That is why we did not want Cabo 20 to feel like an ordinary group vacation. We wanted to curate an entire experience.

Every detail was selected with intention. We thought about how our guests would feel when they arrived, what they might need throughout the weekend, and what they could take home to remember the trip.

Each guest received:

  1. A custom Cabo Crew bag
  2. A custom sunglasses case
  3. Custom sunglasses
  4. A custom flask
  5. A custom magazine
  6. A Cabo recovery kit
  7. Custom removable tattoos
  8. A personalized beach towel created by Treasured Stitchez Gifts & Then Some, LLC
  9. A custom weekend fragrance
  10. A Cabo photo challenge card

These were more than gifts placed inside a bag.

Each item served a purpose.

The sunglasses were for enjoying the Cabo sun. The recovery kits were there for the mornings after celebrating. The personalized beach towels gave everyone something created especially for them. The photo challenge encouraged our guests to capture memories throughout the weekend.

The custom magazine told the celebration’s story. The fragrance gave Cabo 20 its own scent and created another way for our guests to remember the experience.

Even the removable tattoos added something fun and personal to the weekend.

Together, the gifts communicated one message:

We thought about you. We appreciate you. Your presence matters to us.

Dr. G Gem: The most meaningful details are the ones that let people know they were considered.

Watching People Connect

One of the things that brought me the most joy was watching everyone connect.

I loved seeing people who may not have known each other well having conversations, laughing together, taking pictures, dancing, and creating their own memories.

When I stepped back and saw everything coming together, it made all the planning and preparation worth it.

Seeing the dinners, the yacht, the outfits, the gifts, and the activities come together was beautiful. But seeing people connect was the best part.

That is what brings me joy.

I do not create experiences simply because I want everything to look good. Of course, I want it to look good. But I also want it to feel good.

I want people to leave talking about the laughter, the conversations, the energy, and how the experience made them feel.

Long after the gifts are unpacked and the pictures stop appearing on social media, I want the connections and memories to remain.

Dr. G Gem: A memorable experience is not defined only by what people did. It is defined by how they felt and what they carried home with them.

The Real Luxury Was Connection

Cabo was beautiful.

The resort was amazing. The views were breathtaking. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. The yacht experience was unforgettable.

But the greatest luxury was not the destination.

The real luxury was connection.

It was hearing laughter across the table.

It was watching everyone relax and enjoy themselves.

It was seeing people embrace every part of the experience.

It was being surrounded by friends and family who genuinely wanted to celebrate this milestone with us.

Time with people you love is a luxury.

Feeling safe enough to be yourself is a luxury.

Being surrounded by genuine joy is a luxury.

Having people intentionally show up to celebrate your love is a luxury.

Those are the things money cannot buy.

Forever Grateful for Every Yes

To everyone who attended Cabo 20, please know Mike and I are forever grateful.

You did more than take a trip with us.

You gave us your time.

You celebrated our relationship.

You trusted our vision.

You brought love and positive energy into every experience.

You helped turn our anniversary celebration into one of the most meaningful weekends of our lives.

We hope you felt as celebrated and appreciated as you made us feel. Every gift, dinner, activity, photograph, and special detail was our way of saying thank you for sharing this milestone with us.

We do not take your yes for granted.

Traveling requires time, money, planning, and sacrifice. You stepped away from your responsibilities and invested in creating memories with us.

That will always mean more than we can fully express.

Dr. G Gem: Never become so focused on who could not be there that you forget to cherish the people who showed up with love.

The Right Crew at the Right Time

It would have been easy to focus on the people who didn’t respond or who expressed interest after everything was finalized.

Instead, we chose gratitude.

Our dinner reservations, yacht experience, and weekend activities had already been carefully planned around our confirmed group. Adding more people was no longer possible without changing the experience we had committed to creating.

In the end, we did not need a larger group.

We needed the right group.

The Cabo 20 brought the perfect combination of personalities, laughter, love, and energy. Everyone contributed something different, and together they created something none of us could have created alone.

Sometimes we assume that more automatically means better.

But more is not always what we need.

Sometimes the blessing is found in the people who said yes at the right time.

Dr. G Gem: Do not underestimate the power of the right people being in the right place at the right time.

The Memories Came Home With Us

The trip eventually ended.

The luggage was unpacked. The outfits were put away. The photographs and videos began appearing on our timelines. Everyone returned to work, family, and everyday responsibilities.

But the most meaningful parts of Cabo came home with us.

The laughter remains.

The photographs remain.

The inside jokes remain.

The friendships remain.

The gratitude remains.

We will remember the laughter on the yacht, the conversations over dinner, the coordinated looks, and the moments that were never written on the itinerary.

Those moments turned a vacation into a memory.

God Knew What We Needed

We thought we were adjusting our travel plans.

God was redirecting us toward something more meaningful.

We thought we were creating an experience for our guests.

God used our guests to create an experience for us.

We wanted the Cabo 20 to feel celebrated and appreciated.

In return, they made us feel deeply loved.

That is the beautiful thing about genuine connection. The love you give often finds its way back to you.

Our parents could not join us as originally planned. Not everyone we invited responded, and other friends wanted to attend after we finalized the number.

Still, the experience unfolded exactly as it needed to.

God knew the number.

God knew the destination.

God knew the timing.

God knew the crew.

A Final Dr. G Gem

Sometimes the experience you carefully create for others becomes the experience God uses to remind you how supported, valued, and loved you are.

Cabo 20 was more than an anniversary trip.

It was love.

It was intention.

It was gratitude.

It was friendship.

It was community.

It was proof that changed plans can still lead to beautiful experiences.

We selected the details.

We created the invitations.

We planned the activities.

We welcomed every person who said yes.

But God brought the right people together and shaped the weekend into something greater than we could have planned on our own.

Cabo may not have been the destination we originally imagined, but it became exactly what we needed.

And the Cabo 20 were not simply the people who attended.

They were the right crew.

To every member of the Cabo 20, thank you for choosing us, celebrating us, trusting our vision, and helping us create memories we will cherish forever.

We are, and always will be, forever grateful.
