🎂🍸34…………………the year of NO & growth!

  • by

Each year our birthday comes around & we began reminiscing about the past, the ups & down, and relationships that ended and began. This year has been about change, growth, heartbreak, closing and starting new chapters, and discovering what I truly deserve but not knowing and being fearful of what the future holds. I will admit, it can be scary when you come face to face with our reality that we are in a place we don’t want to be in anymore. That can be a feeling or a situation.… Read More »🎂🍸34…………………the year of NO & growth!

HAPPY SOCIAL WORK MONTH

This week I celebrated the 7th anniversary from when I submitted my first research proposal and presented at NASW-LA in Baton Rouge, LA. This week I presented at the NASW-MD Conference on Suicide Among Active Military Personnel and War Veterans. My first time I was introducing the information from my article I published with NASW and I was very comfortable and did not feel nervous at all. An altercation occurred between two of the participants. I feel that I handled the situation very well. During my presentation, I provided a… Read More »HAPPY SOCIAL WORK MONTH

May the work I've done speak for me:

There comes a time in every adult’s life where they must be honest and in tune with their true feelings. A couple of weekends ago I was having a pity party for myself because I was in class on Saturday and Sunday at a CBT certification course. Next weekend I will be working on speaking engagements. The weather is getting warmer and everyone is enjoying the outdoors, and I will be working. I started to think about the time when will I get the chance to enjoy my weekends and… Read More »May the work I've done speak for me:

Enjoy the journey

Knowing we desire growth and improvement is one thing. Always driving ourselves is another. Maybe the answer isn’t that we need to do better, try harder, push more. (TGIPF) This morning I was listening to Fantasia “Bump what your friends say” and the song made me think about a lot of things. If you are feeling confused, alone, unsure of what to do next, go back to a place you can trust—– your heart. In matters of work, money, love, go back to your heart. Are you unsure of the map, uncertain of the next step on your journey, or wondering how to untangle the mess of a broken heart? The answers are not in your head, it’s… Read More »Daily Inspiration

Last night I had a great time catching up with my friends and can’t wait until they arrive in DC in August. Life is about the people you meet on this journey of life, and the things you create with them. I’m grateful for my experiences, and people I have met on this journey of life. You can’t save time, so it can’t gain interest: So concentrate your interest in the present and savor every moment.

This morning I finished editing my mother’s day tribute and I started thinking about the term grateful. Grateful is recognizing what you have for what it is. Admiring the struggle it takes to only be human on this journey of life. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate. Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value in your life. What are you… Read More »Daily Inspiration
