Last night I was in the bed thinking about life (my professional career, love life, my personal goals and what is next for me). As I get older I am learning how to be patient with myself. When I started my career, I wanted to have my Ph.D. and own a house before 30. I had to realize that is what just that my goals but God had some other plans. I am learning that it’s not in my time but in God’s time when things fall into place. It is ok to set deadlines, and say when. When it comes to some goals, there is never a perfect time. Taking time to be gentle with yourself is imperative. The seeds of change grow gently, sometimes almost imperceptibly. Transformation takes time. I am personally working on letting go of unrealistic expectations of how quickly I, or others, need to develop and change.
Sometimes in our relationships (friendships, love relationships, family, and professional relationships) we need to learn to let go. Sometimes we need to say goodbye. So we can travel on our own personal journeys, and experience life lessons.
Last night I had a great time catching up with my friends and can’t wait until they arrive in DC in August. Life is about the people you meet on this journey of life, and the things you create with them. I’m grateful for my experiences, and people I have met on this journey of life. You can’t save time, so it can’t gain interest: So concentrate your interest in the present and savor every moment.
Don’t be hurtful: People heal, but you can never un-hurt them. Forgiveness doesn’t mean you will forget.
Example has more followers than reason. We unconsciously imitate what pleases us, and insensibly approximate to the characters we most admire. In this way, a generous habit of thought and of action carries with it an incalculable influence.
Clinging to the lessons, people, and feelings from yesterday will keep you tired, stressed, confused, and afraid. If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.
The past two nights I have been talking with someone about pain, hurt, love, and how to heal from your past. Yes, we all have been hurt and have walls built up but it is important to open your hear to the universe. Let it bring you love and comfort. Let it bring you healing. Let it take you back to your past long enough to heal, so you can move into your joy.
